Planned and organized by Dan Frost, a participant in SIPERG’s northern Norway field work, the Paleoclimate Teacher Workshop introduced five teachers from the coastal Maine to hands-on paleoclimate research. Topics covered included paleoclimate proxies in general, biology of clams, skeleton plotting of tree rings, and lake coring, among others.
The event was a huge success and many thanks are deserved to Dan Frost for providing such an excellent professional development opportunity for high school teachers. All of the teachers discussed ways they plan to incorporate some of the hands-on science activities into their curriculum.
